College Days

  • It all started with a lot of excitement and an orientation. I mean, an online orientation where I was introduced to so many college societies and after that my exact subjects…

    Pre-college Preparation

But, before it, a lot of research, about colleges, universities, distances, ranking and somewhat about my degree, as I was also interested to pursue bio-chemistry (specifically). Knowing that I'm a nonmedical student, I came back to Chemistry Hons. Another interesting thing is, I was the only guy who decided chemistry hons in my 12th batch, and many past batches of Savita Mam.
  • It was already lockdown, just after my exams finished, where me and Aditya were in our imagination of my upcoming college days. The college days like 3-idiots, where I'm the Ranchordass cham…blah blah and I don't care where Aditya is, although it was his Imagination not mine. Huh, it never happens like that…

    College Starts
  • As I shared, it started with an orientation, then a bunch of online classes and then, online practicals without practicals (the same points which I mentioned on Twitter). I often visited my college, sometimes while taking lectures. Once, my English professor noticed the moving background behind me, and the background changed to college buildings. Obviously, you shouldn't walk, eat or sleep while taking online lectures, which we all did anyway…
  • I was one of those rare students who used to ask doubts in every topic and talk in college groups whole day. And so, my name got famous, i.e., RkVirus. Although, people were making fun of me, thinking me a new type of virus. Huh… anyway, famous is famous. And this was the reason, Neha messaged me,
  • “Hlo, Ravi Mishra… urf RkVirus”
  • “How is this? How you know me?”
  • “You told your real name in lecture”
  • (it was because, the professor asked, “who is this rkvirus in lecture?”)

It started so nicely with Neha. There were long chats, each day, discussing career and motivating each other. We were like best friends…, until she met me in real, in college.
  • Just after, things changed, college opened, our chats gradually closed, and our stories got viral. So many boys are still confused what happened, why are we no more friends? Huh, don't want to explain. There were just misunderstandings that never got cleared because of her new friends and her new friend circle, where I was an outer point.
  • Leaving all above, I literally enjoyed Yavanika, the drama society of my college. What… drama? Acting?… yup. Not only Yavanika, but I joined almost all the college societies (except dancing and singing), clearing their interviews and GDs and making them believe that I will manage everything.
  • What I learned from Yavanika is, how to handshake, hug and make bonds of friendship and teamwork. We used to exercise, play and practice all day in 4-5hr session. Sadly, this was the reason, I had to leave Yavanika. Although, once, the director (a real one), got impressed by my acting. He said that I had something inside me as a good actor. Hmm… the acting had to be real, because it was the reality of my family, i.e., the story of my dad. Nevertheless, I justified my story by saying, “My family is good because I can't imagine a boring family who agrees to each other and never argue. Just like my neighbors”. Anyway, coming out of nostalgia, I tried hard to manage both practicals and Yavanika workshops, but my professors were never that supportive. So I gave up Yavanika…

Our twitter strikes were somewhere successful and finally our college opened in Feb., 2022. My first offline college day was given to Yavanika and a few more days… and that's how, I got No Friends when I came back to my class after leaving Yavanika. They were already in their friend circles, except Sanskar. I tried joining these circles, but my vibe didn't match, again except Sanskar. Who the hell is this guy? Yup, I already described him in previous blogs, but anyway. He never gave a fuck, trying to join any friend circle or trying to talk anyone, obviously except me.
  • || I really need to think, why I get all the strange friends like Aditya, Sanskar or Gaurav!! ||
  • Coming back to story, we were the only one who explored the whole college than anyone else. Like, playing badminton nearby girls hostel, eating lunch at emergency stairs, playing music in our secret music room, teaching each other in tutorial rooms, stealing (but never stole) apparatus from botany labs. Sometimes smoking at the top floor, we were not smokers anyway.
  • He always asks me, what’s going on between me and Nancy, the most introverted girl in our batch. Although, I found introverts are no more introverts when they are online. The thing is she shared her shyness or introvertness with me, and I was trying my best to change her, to make her realise that she is too important on Earth. Although, she made me feel demotivated sometimes. Once, we made a plan to go out with Muskan and Sanskar. And the plan vanished as expected.
  • The time passed away like this, until Mene Aag lga di!

    The Lab Accident
  • It was a normal organic chemistry experiment going on…
  • I was at the final step of making a derivative of my compound. I just had to take the compound in a china dish, add some picric acid (strongest organic acid) and a little Acetone. Then, I had to leave it for a while. But, this “for a while” was very much for me. So, I did it quickly. Forgetting the fact that Acetone is flammable, I moved to a nearby Bunsen burner to vaporize the acetone and get my final product. As I just got an inch away from the flame, the china dish burst out flame and I have quickly thrown the china dish (not breaking it). But it was too late! I had fire on my hands. I quickly and hardly blew off the flame and came back to human form from ghost rider. Unfortunately, I couldn't save hairs on my hand. What my batch mates were doing? Huh, watching the whole scene… Professor arrived, “What happened, who is this stupid, who took acetone towards flame”. I, with support of Sanskar, told it was nearby the burner, and it happened, unknowingly. Although, I did it knowingly. The day onwards, I was a cool guy. Everyone was just kept saying, Aag lga di bhai ne! Specially Sanskar.
  • Yup, it was the first and last accident in the building. (hopefully)

Time passed and the final semester arrived…

I was and am good in computers. So, I showed off, the thing that professor did not like. But it was not about showing off, but about my better techniques and code to get the output and compared to her bookish techniques. I was always against the syllabus, mainly the programming language BASIC, it's not basic at all! Why not to learn python? The same question which, I raised in my computer VIVA. Obviously, I even showed off in VIVA, where she tested my python skills by giving so many programs and I solved them all. And then she told me to translate the programs in BASIC, where I gave up. Yup, it was a special VIVA for me. I even tried helping the staff by giving my pen drives for transferring files and other technical stuff during my final practicals. And again, my computer professor didn't like this and scolded me as bad as she can.
  • … I don't even care about forgetting her subject, BASIC.,

Finally, it's not easy to describe the 3 years of… I mean, 1 year of my offline college. But the special moments are already written off…
