Am I a Sample?

  • Interesting things happened…

  • Talking about yesterday, I had an ECG for the first time. It was nothing though I got feared by the procedure. They clipped my legs and wrists with red and yellow wired clips. Of course, these are the colours of live and neutral wire, so I got shocked thinking whether are they going to give me a real shock?
  • Huh… it was nothing but still CT scan and lever test were left for upcoming Tuesday. Don’t know for what reasons, but the doctor justified by saying, “better to test now for free than testing for thousands later”.

  • *Another Test day*
  • I’m being treated like a sample!
  • Sometimes it scares a little and sometimes it feels exciting. But when I think, somebody has to do it.
  • I was hesitating, but the doctor gave her best to convince me and I agreed. But…
  • I saw that list! Her list of several medical tests. I knew my name was added with some other special patients or I should say sample patients. I still agreed… and now the to do list started. She (doctor) started with minute tests like BP, BMI, body fat %, and then it got serious.

First, I went for fibroscan i.e. liver test. I already searched these whole night so as it get rid of medical phobias. It was just a vibrator like device which they touched below the right of my diaphragm and there was a monitor generating graphs.

Next, it’s time for surgery, I mean the Biopsy. What? She said only blood, ECG and CT Scan? And now biopsy? I lately read that biopsy is a medical procedure where they take a part of tissue from your body but the scary thing to know is, tissue from anywhere of your body! I was lucky that the doctor marked a small red circle on my left elbow not on the face. Also lucky to know that they use anaesthesia. I was watching a live surgery of course, of my own hand, expecting to feel no pain, but there was pain.

I handed over that peace of epithelial tissue to the doctor. And it’s time for next test, the CT Scan! Similar to MRI but little advanced. CT scan does a 3D scan of your body using X-rays. As I was habitual of X-rays, it didn’t scare me. It won’t change my genes. I moved to different building and predicted the procedure just by looking at the machine. They advised to calm down, no problem. I laid down on the machine’s stature and continuously reading the heart beats on the machine’s screen. Even the machine said to calm down!

Done? Noway! The ultrasound is left. Here I just knew the fact that it uses ultra sound frequency but never experienced. At least it was similar to fibroscan and not at all scary. Now done.

Even the blood test was not a simple CBC/LFT test. They filled 3 extra test tubes given by the doctor other than the 3 normal test tubes of CBC/LFT. A total of 6 test tubes! It was again not a problem for me as I regularly give my blood 2 to 4 months. Not a problem, until I started to faint… somehow I opened-closed my fist to increase the blood circulation and did it. The 3 extra test tubes were actually filled for genetic tests as she said this disease gets inherited.
  • “For 1% cases…” I reacted

Finally, the question wtf is going on? And why am I giving these insane tests?, shouldn’t be asked by those who know me.
